The Factions

There are many factions you may chose to join in Desolation. The run of the mill irradiated human element -- leftover biker gangs, rabid survivalists, crazed religious zealots -- you get the idea.

Note: The factions themselves are still being heavily developed in game. As they get more defined, we will write descriptions for them, and link them to the page.

  Background: The Association of Irradiated Mercenaries (AIM) is committed to bringing the most bang for your buck when it comes to your mercenary needs. Demanding high rates, as well as delivering the goods on time. AIM prides itself as the best mercenary organization in New Nevada. They were formed by a small group of freelance mercenaries, who built a base in a cavern in a mountain range near Quartz with equipment that was found/stolen from various organizations that litter the wastes. Although the Desert Rangers have set up an outpost at the entrance to the caverns that lead to their base, they have managed to work out a pact with the Ranger Outpost, where they do the odd job for them, in exchange for their secrecy.

    Background: The Badland Originals are a rather large gang of vicious punks. They were formed when Devil united four of the first raider clans in the wasteland under his rule. Unlike most gangs, the Badland Originals are semi-mercenary. If you were to offer a pack of them money to kill somebody, break into something, or blow something up, there's a good chance you'll get a job done. There's also a good chance you'll be riddled full of SMG fire for annoying them. The gang operates off in a secluded military base somewhere in the wasteland. Most people who go there aren't known for coming back alive.

  Background: The Desert Rangers are a military organization who deliver
frontier justice to the ragtag townships. The Desert Rangers were originally
derived from prewar United States Army Corps of Engineers. They are currently
governed by an internal council.

  Background: A mining company based on gathering raw materials for Vegas's construction. Mining mostly iron ore, they ship it down the Colorado river for the reconstruction of the robot-torn Vegas. Very profitable organization.

  Background: The New Nevada Medical Association is a group of compassionate individuals who look out for not only their own, but help anyone who asks for it. Known not only for their knowledge of medicine, but their interest and capabilities with prewar technology, the NMA is second to none in the field of science.

  Background: Group of mobster like people calling themselves 'The Syndicate'. Using the Russian term for it. They operate from a large apartment complex in a small town renamed 'Aequitas' at some point in the past. Their interests are everything that would gain wealth. Drug trade, gun running, gambling, prostitution, slavery, etc. They are well known for being ruthless and violent if needed, but also uphold a sense of strange honor. The members are to uphold various codes of conduct, punishable by death if broken. Though it's not uncommon for a member having to pay his/her way back in their favor if he has dishonored them and himself.

  Background: The Servants of the Mushroom Cloud are a fanatical religious organization that believes that radiation will save humanity from its sins.   Background: The Screwheads are a gang started by a woman nicknamed 'Hammer', in the town of '...'. They settled into an old pre-war hardware store, which became the origin of their name. They tend to keep within the town, lacking the strength to rove far beyond it's bounderies, as gangs like the Badlanders do.

  Background: When the Merc's business started to decline with the arrival of AIM, the general decided to move away from being hired guns, and move towards raiding. Some mercs left, some scum joined up, and now they're raiders known as the Warriors.
