It seem so to be a lot of players dream to be a wizard on Desolation. I know I'm constantly asked about how to become a wizard. I hope to give you a good idea of what you should do if you want such a position.

First and foremost, do not bug wizards about being wizzed. Do not constantly "hint" that you want to be wizzed, and are waiting to be so. That gets annoying, and will not help you in any way. You should ask us if we have a position open, but, do not constantly ask us if you can help code or if you can help write descriptions, and do not bad mouth current wizards hoping to get their spot. This will only sour our opinion of you.

What will help you? Demonstrating your writing and building ability.
How do you do that? I highly recommend writing a good mid-sized (15-25 rooms) area proposal for the MUD. This proposal should have a map of the area, legend for the map, a list of items and NPCs, descriptions for important rooms, descriptions for important NPCs, descriptions for important items, and try to include a quest.

Giving an example of your coding ability will also help, but is not necessary.

Some may say that the staff is elitist and cliquish, but, the truth is, if you don't get along with the staff, why would we want you on it? We are a team and should work as a team. If you are known to curse out staff members, that will not lead us to believe you would be a valuable member of the staff.

Remember, please find out if there is room for you on the team before asking to be wizzed. You may submit an area proposal at any time, but if we do not have need for you at the time being, we will not wiz you. We will do what any business would do and put your application in our records, and go through them when a position is open again. If you submit a application, give us time to review it and get back to you about it.

If you aren't given a position, be it that there are none available, or that we simply don't believe that you would make a good addition to the staff please don't bitch and moan. I would also advise you to not bitch about other people being wizzed over yourself. We have our reasons for wizzing them. Usually.
