Investing in futures ... "The Save the Matt Foundation was born on the poverty-stricken town of Keokuk, Iowa when a small child named Matt timidly asked me for money to buy a computer. As I looked into his pleading eyes, a powerful sense of compassion overwhelmed me. I realized that without my small gift, this precious little one would go to bed without having been on the Internet. As I gave Matt the money and looked into his face, the words of so many charties before me echoed through my mind "...if we can save just one child, our work here is done" I knew right then, Matt was that child. Yet, I wanted to do more than that. I wanted Matt to know he was going to be cared for on a continuing basis. The child sponsorship program was begun in 1999. Since that time, The Save the Matt Foundation has helped link together sponsor and Matt. Through the sponsorship program, Matt has been helped with the most basic of necessities: food, clothing, educational opportunities, and medical attention. Sponsors are rewarded with the sense of a future." - Brian Bugh, President and Founder What is sponsorship? Child Sponsorship offers an opportunity for caring persons to send monthly support to supplement Matt's care consisting of food, clothing, medical attention, and educational opportunities. Your $20 US or $22 Canadian monthly support will help Matt with basic necessities that determine the kind of future he will have. Without them, there may be no future. What each packet contains The individual sponsorship packet that is mailed to you at your request will contain Matt's history, a photograph of Matt, and a brief description of Matt's country. Periodically you will receive correspondence from Matt. What it means to Matt Sponsorship affects the life of Matt through meeting his physical, mental, and material needs. Emotional needs are met through the love and care given by the sponsors. Your love will change the life of Matt. Sponsorship ... NOT adoption The Save the Matt Foundation is not an adoption agency. Legal adoption of Matt sponsored through The Save the Matt Foundation is not possible. Christmas and birthdays The Matt Sponsorship program provides two parties annually for Matt. In celebration of Matt's birthdays, once a year we host a festive party with games and refreshments for all. An annual Christmas party is held in December. Refreshments are served and the Christmas story is told. Gifts are given to Matt. Our policy does allow, and encourages sponsors to send Matt individual gifts. We feel that it is good for Matt to be able to recieve individual, and personalized gifts from each sponsor. |
