There
are many factions you may chose to join in Desolation. The run of the
mill irradiated human element -- leftover biker gangs, rabid survivalists,
crazed religious zealots -- you get the idea.

Background:
The Association
of Irradiated Mercenaries (AIM) is committed to bringing the most bang
for your buck when it comes to your mercenary needs. Demanding high
rates, as well as delivering the goods on time. AIM pride itself as
the best mercenary organization in New Nevada. They were formed by a
small group of freelance mercenaries, who had built a base in a cavern
in a mountain range near Quartz with equipment that was found/stolen
from various organizations that litter the wastes. They later moved
into an underground silo somewhere east of the Ranger Outpost.
|
|
Background:
The Badland Originals
are a rather large gang of vicious punks. They were formed when Devil
united four of the first raider clans in the wasteland under his rule.
Unlike most gangs, the Badland Originals are semi-mercenary. If you
were to offer a pack of them money to kill somebody, break into something,
or blow something up, there's a good chance you'll get a job done. There's
also a good chance you'll be riddled full of SMG fire for annoying them.
The gang operates from a nightclub/bar somewhere in the wasteland. Most
people who go there aren't known for coming back alive.

Background:
The Desert Rangers are
a somewhat paramilitary survivalist organization. While they try to
help out who they can, they are not a police force. They're more concerned
with their own well-being and that of their community. The Desert Rangers
were originally derived from prewar United States Army Core of Engineers.
They are currently governed by an internal council.
|
Background:
A mining company based
on gathering raw materials for Vegas's construction. Mining mostly iron
ore, they ship it down the Colorado river for the reconstruction of
the robot-torn Vegas. Very profitable organization.

Background:
A pack-like tribe which
follows their own post-apocalyptic beliefs. Believing that the gods
rained fire and plague over the lands after mankind striven too close
to becoming gods, they shun advanced - but not all - technology. They
live in a simple society, under the lead of Layne. They try to be self-sufficient,
but trade the crops and cattle they raise for goods they can not produce.
Problems are occasionally solved by duels, and any member of the tribe
can become leader by besting the current leader. To become full warriors
of the tribe, one most go on a solo sandworm hunt...

Background:
Group of mobster like
people calling themselves 'The Syndicate'. Using the Russian term for
it. They operate from a large apartment complex in a small town renamed
'Aequitas' at some point in the past. Their interests are everything
that would gain wealth. Drug trade, gun running, gambling, prostitution,
slavery, etc. They are well known for being ruthless and violent if
needed, but also uphold a sense of strange honor. The members are to
uphold various codes of conduct, punishable by death if broken. Though
it's not uncommon for a member having to pay his/her way back in their
favor if he has dishonored them and himself. They were originally the
Spetsnaz, a paramilitary group, until they were steered away from that
and into supplying vices to the people of the wasteland, as their leader
has done previously on the side.
|
Background:
One of the leading weapons
manufacturer before and during the war. It gained massive wealth from
producing wartime heavy weaponry. It's owner, a man simply known now
as Larz, has continued to run a few of his remaining factories out of
his own pocket. The main goal of the Kinetek corporation is simple.
Profit and Death. Their goal is to make Kinetek the leading weapon manufacturer
in the surviving world.

Background:
The Screwheads are a gang
started by a woman nicknamed 'Hammer', in the town of '...'. They settled
into an old prewar hardware store, which became the origin of their
name. They tend to keep within the town, lacking the strength to rove
far beyond it's boundaries, as gangs like the Badlanders do.
